Ab-Sorption 96 International Heat Pump Conference (Montréal, Canada, 1996)WelcomeOn behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome you to the International Ab-Sorption heat pump conference in Montréal, September 17-20.Nine years after the Montréal protocol, this conference marks the advances on environmentally friendly Absorption and solid Sorption heat pump technologies, not only as alternatives to CFC-based systems, but also as improved energy efficient heating and cooling technologies. The conference highlights the importance of Ab-Sorption technologies in promoting sustainable development practices by the HVAC industry, and this message is captured in the conference theme "Towards Sustainable Technologies". Following the successful previous conferences of absorption (New Orleans in 1995) and of solid sorption (Paris 1992), this conference also marks the merging of these two conferences in a single international event. There has been a great spirit of international cooperation and support provided by the Scientific & Technical committee members and the sponsors, for which I am grateful. The result of this effort and support is highlighted in over 100 high-quality papers from over 20 countries. These papers, which will be orally presented at the conference, address the on going research and development as well as the many demonstrations and applications of the technology in the marketplace. The conference will provide a unique opportunity to meet international experts and research teams working in these emerging technologies and, more importantly, to exchange experiences in the field of applications. I look forward to meeting you at the conference in Montréal. Bryan Cook Chairman, Organizing Committee International Ab-Sorption Heat Pump Conference |
